No room for giving up!

No room for giving up!

” I give up! I can’t do this anymore!” Sounds familiar?
How many times have you thrown your hands in the air as a sign of defeat, held your head in your arms and swore that you were done with trying?
How has letting go of something you know you will never stop dreaming of, made you feel? How many times have you shed tears for something you gave up on when you should have fought for it just a little longer? Should I even ask about the regrets you had/have for giving up on your dream, love or yourself?
It always seems impossible until it’s done, right? Well then, until it’s done, there is no room for giving up. Winners never quit and quitters never win, so if you are flirting with the idea of giving up, listen to my whispers blowing your way. Don’t throw your best future away. There’ll always be fear, uncertainty, and anxiety about failing but that doesn’t mean that you have or will fail. How then do we deal with the pressure of wanting to give up? Let’s answer some questions.
  1. How long should you try?
Try until it happens. There is no failure except in no longer trying. Happiness lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. A dream doesn’t come reality through magic, it takes determination, sweat, hard work and patience. So no matter how long it takes, keep trying. It is disappointing to fail after trying but you are doomed if you give up at the first trial. Keep trying even when there seems to be no hope. Everyone fails at something but the ones that do not give up quickly, end up with something. Try and keep trying.
  1. This is taking too long, should I stop?
Keep going. It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop, you will get there. The problem with us is that we want what we want now and if we don’t get it we go elsewhere. Surrender is a symptom for those who lack the courage or will to implement changes, overcome difficulties and practice patience. However long it takes, don’t stop.
  1. Will it be worth it in the end?
You had a good reason for starting. Truth is, even if you stop believing in that dream because your efforts are yet to yield results, you will still want those things as you did before. We all have our breaking points, time when the end reward stops justifying the effort. But before you give in to defeat, remember why you started in the first place. Nothing in the world is worth having unless it means pain, difficulties, and efforts. You have to put a lot of yourself into anything with value and giving up is not part of the deal. When you know that you’ll be rewarded for sticking with your goal/dream, then it is worth continuing even if it is difficult.
  1. What if I don’t succeed?
Many times we fear to try because we are afraid of failing. Afraid that other people will judge us or be disappointed with us. Reality is no one judges us as we judge ourselves. We trample over our abilities and crush our strength because we keep looking at the negative side. Sometimes the negative is just a little hurdle we can just jump without straining but we keep holding back, afraid. Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you will land on the stars.
You will never know how far you can go if you don’t keep going , keep trying.
  1. I don’t think this was meant for me, should I trust my guts?
It’s always good to trust your gut, but not on something you can’t imagine yourself going/living without. Sometimes our emotions give us hints about what we love or what we should do. Also other times, they can just be responses to stress or a difficult situation. Acting in moments of tense emotions could leave you in a poll of regrets once the wave has passed. Take time to note what you are feeling and feel it fully without judging yourself. When you are in your moment of peace and clarity, make your decision.
  1. Am I honest with myself?
Setting very unrealistic goals can fill you with a sense of inadequacy, anxiety, and fear. It’s like Superman, if you choose to jump down because Superman did it, then I don’t ha a 10 storey building, I don’t have to tell you your fate. Is the goal really a good thing when you weigh its fulfillment?  Are you doing it to impress family and friends or trying to prove a point to someone? If your answer to this is a genuine one and your motivation comes from a healthy place, then you have more to think about before choosing to quit. Sometimes when we are not honest with ourselves, we end up trying to do things that are not even of our interest or plan and this may end up nastily. However, if you are honest with yourself and are sure of the goal you want to pursue, don’t let anything stand in your way.
Life is a demanding journey and many times it demands more effort than our abilities without caring how we feel or the obstacles in our paths.
No matter how exhausted you feel or how many times you fall, keep going. Anything that’s worthwhile takes time, energy, dedication, and sacrifice. As long as you are alive, you have the power to live your dreams if you leave no room for giving up, or uttering the words ” I quit because I was scared”
Your victory is just around the corner, you want to go grab it? we can come with you!
